RGC THEATRE’S STATEMENT OF AUDITION WELLNESS:

Auditions are a process to showcase your art and performance style. Though auditions may be stressful, we encourage you to be kind to yourself and approach the audition as an opportunity to perform. We work to create a welcoming audition room and appreciate and respect the hard work you are bringing to the space, and we thank you for it. We are here to witness you,not to judge you. We are looking for potential, not for perfection. Lastly, do not feel limited to certain pieces due to the original gender or key of a song because you have been conditioned to comply with limitations and rules in the world of theatre. Theatre is a space to create. Create in a way that YOU choose. #MakeYourOwn

Several characters in this production deal with sensitive topics such as eating disorders, suicidal ideation, sexual assault, simulated sex onstage, emotional abuse, body dysmorphia, bullying, repeated comments about weight and body, et. cetera. You will not be considered for these characters without your express consent as outlined in your audition form.

The score for Heathers is CHALLENGING.  Please do not push yourself or risk vocal damage for this audition.

**For your second audition cut, please select something that you are comfortable singing and you are proud of. We are asking a lot of your first selection, and we know that. This piece is for you to introduce yourselves to us as an artist. This can be your favorite musical theatre song, this could be a piece you are proud of, this could be a nice relaxing and easy to sing cut in contrast to the high belt cut you’ve selected. The world is your oyster. Please be sure this is also a contemporary musical theatre piece.

There will be NO SPOKEN MONOLOGUES, please act while you sing.
